It is hard to believe that it is the end of the school year and another year has flown by. We, the teachers here at Nania would like to thank all of you for sharing your children with us each day. We enjoy watching them grow, as well as guiding them learn and experience new things. We have accomplished so much with your children and are pleased to see growth in each and every one of them. As the end of the school year draws closer, we are amazed to see just how the children have grown and changed over the course of year. The time that we have been able to spend with the children will be treasured always.
We will surely miss all the graduated children and their families who will be taking the next step onto Primary school. We will always remember you!
We look forward to working with the returning children and new comers for the new next school year.
Christmas is around the corner. The children are getting into the festive mood right now as they are busy practising for the Christmas festival. They really enjoy singing Christmas songs in English, Japanese and Mandarin.
In the classroom, the children have also started to weave, draw and decorate their paper “Christmas socks” which they will fill with their beautiful drawings and paintings. The “socks” and its contents will be taken on the day of the festival. Browsing through their drawings, we can see how the children have developed over the months.
Children will help to make Christmas cookies 2 days before the festival day and will wipe all the chairs as part of the festival preparations.
The theme at the display table has changed as well. The “Star Window” is now placed at the centre of the room. Each day after lunch, all the children gather about the display table. The teachers invite one child to open a “Star Window”. Another child hangs a coloured star on a tree branch while another child takes out a gnome or a wooden animal and places it on the display table. Every child will have a turn to do the tasks till all the windows are open. When that happens, it is the day we celebrate the festival together.
For this festival, we work on the theme of sharing and giving with the children. Christmas is not just about receiving presents. It is also about giving. There are many unfortunate and distressed people in the world. Some are sick and some are hungry.
As part of the ceremony, each child will carry a candle. The children will make a wish for someone other than themselves as they pass the candle on to be lighted. During practice the children will make beautiful wishes like:-
‘’I wish sick children can get well soon.”
‘’I wish every child in the world will be happy - I hope my wish will come true.”
The loving nature of the children will shine through majestically when each one of them makes their wishes for others. The children will sing the “Song of Prayer” just before we put out the candles. Each day, we are warmly touched by the children at Nania as we prepare for this festival.
In closing, we wish you all a fun, warm and relaxing Christmas break! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
