The Christmas Festival is just around the corner. Have you heard your children sing the Christmas songs or recite the Christmas poem? As part of our preparation, we have placed a “Star Window calendar” in the centre of the display corner.  Each day before lunch, the teachers will invite one child to open a calendar window while two others will each take out a gnome and a wooden animal and place them on the display table.  Every child will have a chance to perform this ceremony until all the windows are open.  When the last window is opened, it signifies that it is time to celebrate the Christmas festival at Nania.

We made the paper origami Santa Claus with the children. We have also decorated the ‘Christmas Tree’ at the display corner with stars coloured by the children during the morning artistic activity.  Please remember to bring them home after the day’s celebration.

Soon we will say goodbye to year 2019. I have spent a wonderful year with the children and get closer to parents. As I was packing the children’s paintings and drawings, I noticed their development and growth.

Few days ago, some six-year-old children showed me with excitement that the seeds they had planted has sprout. They took gentle care of them and watered them with care. I believed that Nania also has planted the seeds of kindness, reverence and wonder in the heart of these young souls. And with these treasures, they are now ready to move on to the next learning phase. I wish them all the best and always welcome them to visit us again whenever they can.

Our five-years-old have become independent and capable, they can handle the daily routine like unpack their bags, change their cloths and eat the lunch by themselves. They took up the leading role in creative play in the afternoon as the big children were busy with their lesson time. They look up to the big children and admired their works like weaving bags, lesson books and music instruments. Being together under one roof gave them a chance to know what is coming to them when they become the big “’koko’’ and “jiejie” in the class next year.

Our younger children also enjoyed their time in Nania now that they have overcome their separation anxiety with their parents. They are adorable and lovely. They can follow the class rhythm and play with the older children. They are willing to try variety of food when teachers and friends encouraged them.

Amidst laughter and tears, these children have matured as individuals and also gotten closer to each other.  They remember friends who are absent and offer prayers for those who are unwell.

Next year we will welcome many new children to the class. We hope the present children will welcome them with open heart. I am looking forward to the new class dynamic as the new year begin.

I wish to take this opportunity to wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
