Dear parents,
Going into the month of March, the children, especially the new ones, have grown more familiar with the daily rhythms. One such rhythm is the morning 15-minute circle time after snack and just before outside playtime. The children enjoy circle time as we sing action songs, do fun exercises and play games.
We sing the familiar songs before I introduce new ones. The children naturally and happily move and sing along with me. There is so much joy in the classroom till it is time to go for outside play.
Once in the garden, everyone enjoys playing in the sandpit, watering plants, making colour dyes using flowers and leaves in the garden, climbing the tree, playing “masak-masak”, running after the butterflies, collecting ‘’ciku’’ seeds and jumping on the trampoline These are truly childhood activities that help them grow up happily, imaginatively and healthily.
Before coming in, we clean them up and they try to change on their own as much as possible. They also fold their own soiled clothing before putting them away. We encourage you to let them be independent at home and you will be amazed at their capabilities.
During lunch, we observe that most of the children have very good appetites after an active hour in the garden. They especially love the delicious meals prepared by Aunty Janet using the organic vegetables, tofu and other organic ingredients that we can find. We also encourage them to drink a lot of water in view of the hot and humid weather lately.
The beans that the children gathered and planted during the Bean Throwing day are growing well in our vegetable patch. You are welcome to come and share this happy experience with your child whenever you are at our garden.
