明けましておめでとうございます。
長いお休みを終えて、新しい年を迎え、子供達は元気な笑顔で帰ってきてくれました。皆様、良いお年を迎えられたことでしょう。
昨年末の４日間は、スタッフ全員出勤して大掃除、おもちゃの日光消毒、布の染め直しなどをし、トイレも便器を一つ増やす改築工事を行いました。
今はチャイニーズニューイヤーの会のため、トントトチャン、トントトチャンと歌ったり踊ったりしています。今年は７人新しいお友達を迎えてバイリンガルクラスとしてSunflowerクラスをスタートしました。皆、同じ空間で楽しそうに遊んでいますよ。ミックスしているので、“だいすき”や“いただきます”が言えるようになったローカルのお友達や、片言の英語がもっと聞けるようになってきました。
そして、早い時期にCNYフェスティバルがあり、準備が難しいのですが、みんなで助け合って、できるだけのことをしてお祝いし、今年一年の幸せを一緒に願いたいと思います。チャイニーズの洋服をお持ちの方は当日、是非着せてあげてください。
１月２月３月は、あっという間に過ぎてしまいます。一日一日を大切に過ごし、それぞれが思い出に残る締めくくりをして欲しいと思います。まだまだコロナや感染症の病気が気になりますが、やるべきことをやって、一緒に乗り越えていきましょう。今年もどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

Chinese New Year Festivalに関する注意事項
· 保護者の皆様、朝9時までに来園されて、駐車場でお待ちください。もし、風邪の症状がありましたら、簡易テストをお願いいたします。
· 子供たちが、CNYの雰囲気に親しめるよう、チャイニーズの洋服をお持ちの方は、よろしくお願いいたします。
· 当日、かばんや水筒は必要ありません。園でお水は用意しますが小さいお子様の着替えは、保護者の方がご持参ください。
· 車はナニアの前にあるChe Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Societyの駐車場を借りていますので、ご利用ください。
· 小さい子供たちが大勢の人の前でプレゼンテーションに参加するのはとても難しいです。そういう時は、お子さんと一緒に歌ってあげてください。
· フェスティバルの発表の後にメインゲートが開きます。車の出入りに注意してください。

*豆まきの日は、それぞれが作ったお面と箱を持ち帰ります。今回も大豆は入れないで箱だけにします。豆まきする所がコンドなどでは難しかったり、いろいろなところで子供たちが巻いたらいけないからです。箱の中に雑草が入っていましたら、それは、豆まきした後、豆拾いをしたからです。例年よく拾っています。土、草の上に落ちた豆は、”宝物”のように見えるのでしょう。豆は畑に蒔いて枝豆を育てようと思っています。
“鬼は外〜福は内〜”“Sickness Sadness Outside! Happiness Inside!”
*日本の伝統行事の豆まきの“鬼”とチャイニーズニューイヤーのお話に出てくる“ニエン”のあり方が、暖かい春を待つ病気や不幸を追い払い幸せを迎えるという意味でよく似ています。蒔いた大豆から芽が出、新しい命のお祝いであるイースターに続くように子供達は一年のリズムを身を持って体験することができます。
*お弁当の日は、子供たちが大好きな日です。アンティージャネットがおにぎり弁当を作ってくれる日だからです。事前にみんなでお財布とお金を作ります。当日は、年長さんたちがパッキングをして、弁当ショップが開いたら、みんなで買い物をしてお昼ご飯になります。キッチンスタッフもおつりを準備してくれますよ。買い物も楽しくて、いつもお代わりをたくさんしています。
*アルバム作りについて
ナニアを卒園される場合や、帰国や移転される場合などアルバムを作って差し上げています。園を変わられる場合は、アルバムではなく、他のプレゼントを差し上げます。皆様には、４Rの写真と４Rのメッセージカードを書いていただいています。新しく入られた方には、難しいと思いますので、今回は写真だけいただけますか。４Rの写真を６枚どうぞよろしくお願い致します。
*2月８日までに４R写真とメッセージカードをお願いできますか。人数が多くて大変でしょうけど、ずっと心と心をつなげてくれるものだと思います。どうぞよろしくお願い致します。

Happy New Year!
After a long break, we welcomed the New Year. It was nice to see the children returning with happy faces and lively smiles.
During the last four days of 2023, all staff members worked hard to prepare Nania for the New Year: cleaning and disinfecting the place including toys, re-dyeing fabrics, and conducting some renovation work to add a new toilet bowl.
This year, we welcomed seven new friends and Sunflower class is now a bilingual class. The new young children had some moments of crying when they say good bye to mammy or daddy. However, soon after they are settled, they start to play happily together. Due to the mixed bilingual class, some are now saying "daisuki", “itadakimasu “ etc. Others are becoming more adept at understanding simple English phrases.
We have an early Chinese New Year Festival this year. Although preparations as a bilingual class are requiring a bit of extra effort, it is worth it as everyone is helping each other to make the celebration as grand as possible. Currently, all children are practicing for the festival, singing, dancing, and chanting "Ton to to chan, Ton to to chan."
Together, we wish for happiness throughout the entire coming year. If you have Chinese traditional clothing, please consider wearing it on the day of the festival.
January, February, and March will pass quickly. We encourage everyone to cherish every day and create memorable moments. Although concerns about COVID-19 and infectious diseases persist, let's do what we can and overcome these challenges together.

Notes regarding the Chinese New Year Festival
· This may be the first festival for some of the younger children who have just joined Nania. It would be helpful if you could enter the classroom quietly and find a place to sit.
· We would like to encourage the children to come in traditional Chinese New Year clothing as it helps them to be in the festive mood.
· It is not necessary to bring a school bag and water bottle as we will be providing water for the children. You could bring one set of cloths in your bag just in case.
· Please park your car at the parking lot of the Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society.
· It is sometimes difficult for young children to join in the festival presentation because of the crowd. We encourage mothers to sing along with their younger children to support their participation.
• The main gate will be opened after the festival celebration. Please be careful of the moving traffic.

Setsubun/Japanese Bean Throwing Day
This festival takes place on the day before Risshun, the first day of spring in the Chinese calendar. Soybeans are scattered in and around the house to drive out sickness and misfortune which are represented by demons. (This custom is called mamemaki.)
For this celebration, the children make origami boxes for storing soybeans and also a mask of the demon or the god of happiness. On that day, the children wear the masks as they scatter the soybeans. We will celebrate the festival in the garden. Later, the children will collect the scattered soybeans and plant them in the vegetable bed. When the plants bear fruits, we harvest and boil the ‘Edamame” for the children to eat during lunch time. |
· The "oni" in the traditional Japanese event of Setsubun (bean-throwing) and the "Nian" mentioned in the Chinese New Year story are quite similar. Both symbolize illnesses and misfortune. By driving them away, we welcome happiness instead as we wait for the warmth of spring. As the soybean sprouts emerge from the sown beans, celebrating new life festival in April, the children can experience the rhythm of the year.
· "Bento (Lunchbox) Day" is one of the children’s favourite days. This is because Auntie Janet makes onigiri (rice ball) bento on that day. Everyone makes wallets and money in advance to ‘pay’ for their bento. On the day itself, the older children would do the packing and when the bento shop opens, everyone goes shopping for lunch. The kitchen staff would also prepare some change for the children. It is an enjoyable shopping experience, and the children would always go for seconds.
· When the children graduate from Nania or when families are returning to their home country or moving away, we create an album to be presented to them. If you are changing preschools, we offer a different gift instead of an album. We would like to ask everyone to provide 4R-sized photos along with 4R-sized message cards. For those who have just joined, we would request for only photos.
· Please provide six 4R-sized photos.
· We would love to collect all photos and messages cards by Feb 8, the day before our Chinese New Year Holiday. We understand that it might be a lot for many people, but we believe that this would be something that can connect heart and heart for a long time. Thank you very much in advance.
