Everyone was inconvenienced when Nania [Halaman York] was directed to close by the Ministry of Health when some of the children were infected by the Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
To ensure the children will not be re-infected, we cleaned, washed, sterilized the house, sun the toys, and washed all the curtain and cloths over 10 days break. A representative of the Ministry of Health came to disinfect the toilets as well. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and seek your cooperation to keep your child at home when they are not feeling well.
We will continue to implement temperature screening of every child and hand washing on arrival at Nania before entering the classroom in addition to our usual hygiene routine. We will maintain this practice until the HFMD outbreak is over. We hope the outbreak in Penang will pass over soon and all the children continue in good health.
You may have noticed that the garden is a bit different. We renovated the rough floor into a smoother surface so that the children can have more space to run and play. Astoundingly, all the children are so observant. They realised something is different just as they get down from the car. They immediately asked us teachers, “What happen to the floor?” They are really happy with the “new” floor. They taking care to keep it clean all the time. We are so happy to see that.
Recently, we celebrated the Japanese festival ”Tanabata’’. During the week we told them the story about Tanabata. The children were keen to make their wishes and hang them on the bamboo branch to bring back home to show you. Some of the children come back and said that their wishes had come true. We believed that you are the ‘’Mr Gnome’’ who are helping to make their wishes come true. We find some of their wishes are really heart warming and we are really happy to see all the children participating in this festival.
Time flies, now it is midyear. All the big children have work very hard during their lesson time. They enjoy the rhythmic games that we introduced. They can also skip well now. The children are able to memorize the poems through skipping. If you want them to memorize something, teach it together with movement and words.
During outside playtime some 5 years old friends also requested to try skipping. We let them try and amazingly they can do it too. We believe they will fit the shoes of being big ”ge ge” and “jie jie” next year.
