Time has passed us by so fast that the 1st half of the year is already gone.  We are now occupied with farewells for four of our expatriate children i.e. Emelie and Lucia in the month of July, Marjaan and Emma in the month of August.Lucia’s family is moving back to Denmark while the other 3 children will be joining St. Christopher after returning from their summer break.

Looking back, I have shared many wonderful and happy moments with these children.  I am glad to have had the opportunity to meet them and also be part of their growing years in Nania.  I’m proud that they are now leaving us as children who are more confident and ready for new challenges in their young lives.

Without a doubt, their classmates miss all of them since the girls have always been able to get along well with one another.  Nevertheless, the boys will miss Marjaan very much as they looked up to their big ‘ko-ko’ since the beginning of this year.

All of us are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know these wonderful children who come from other countries.  Through them, we came to know their cultures as well as languages. So it is not surprising to hear children in the English class counting their numbers in Danish or Swedish sometimes.

In return, we are also proud that these expatriate children learnt to sing and recite poems in Malay, Chinese and Japanese too.  We hope to have more opportunities to meet many such wonderful children from other parts of the world again in the future.

Every time a child walks into Nania, he or she leaves a part of them in the teachers’ heart when they leave.  We hope that they’ll always remember us and we wish them and their families all the very best in their future undertakings.

Very soon, some new children will be joining the English class.  I have faith and confidence that the rest of the children will make them feel welcome and a new set of class dynamics will emerge.

We also had the honor of hosting six 14 year-olds from the Penang Japanese School who visited us two weeks ago.  They prepared a simple magic show and sang their school anthem to our children. The children were in awe of their showmanship. They also joined our children’s outdoor play and we had our morning snack in the garden that day.  Before their departure, they had the chance to taste our delicious ‘rambutans’.

We’ll be celebrating our Lantern Festival on the evening of the 26th of July (Thursday).  All parents and siblings are cordially invited to come and join us.  It’ll be school as usual on that day and the children will return with you to join us at 6.15pm.  Please be on time so that the children have ample time to prepare for their presentations.
