Thank you for attending our Harvest Festival. We truly appreciate your support for this event. We were very encouraged when we saw the children coping well during this festival. Most of the children are in the younger age group yet they were able to show forth their talent in multiple languages. They learnt well by imitating the teachers during daily ring time.  Finally, they stood in front of all of you singing and moving in rhythm. Some of them are still not ready to face an audience yet but that is alright. They will be ready one day. However, they enjoyed singing and moving along with the rest of the children while they were practising in the classroom.  For a few days after the Harvest festival, they were still talking about the Mr. Frog and the Water Dragon, the two characters from the Harvest Puppet show. It showed that they really paid attention and enjoyed the puppet show very much.

Recently, we had a Lunch Box Day. Some of the parents wondered what this special day was about and why the children were so excited.  It was a special picnic day where the kitchen staff set up a “Lunch Box shop” in the garden. The children made ‘wallets’ and ‘money’ during the morning artistic activity. They were excited because they started the countdown a week ago and finally the day arrived! When children noticed the lunch box shop set up during the outside play, they surprisingly requested to shorten the duration of outside play.  They were more curious in the readily available lunches that were neatly packed in compartment boxes. Then, they all queued up patiently in the garden ready to “buy” the delicious  lunches from Aunty Anny who was the “chef” on that day. They enjoyed their picnic lunch in the garden. It was a new experience for them.

At the moment, the children are slowly getting into festive mood now that we have started to learn some of the songs and poems for the coming Christmas Festival  in December. During this festival ceremony, we want to prolong the particular beautiful moment when the children have lit all their candles by singing the “Nania Song of Prayer”.  Only after they have sung the song will we put out the candles. They have also started to weave, draw and decorate their paper ‘Christmas sock’. They will bring home this sock filled with their beautiful drawings and paintings on the day of the festival.

The theme of the Christmas festival is of ‘sharing and giving’. The focus of this festival is to connect the children to their inner beings and cultivate the goodness that lies within them. Christmas is not just about receiving presents, having parties and dressing up. It is also about giving love and nurturing kind thoughts to others. By encouraging them to carry kind thoughts for others, we hope to help the children rekindle their inner light and experience the warmth and joy of sharing and giving .

We enclose herewith songs and poems for the Christmas festival as well as the programme for your information. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again at the Christmas festival.
