The children came early with great anticipation on the morning of our New Life day celebration. They started the day with colouring the eggs. Every child held the eggs gently when they started to colour them.

After that, the children got together for ringtime. I am sure you have heard your child sing “Hoopathi hoopathi hoop” at home. Well, this is the song Mr Bunny sings as he hops around searching for “Easter Eggs”.

Next, the teachers presented the New Life puppet show based on the friendship between a caterpillar and a girl.  The girl was upset when the caterpillar that she had befriended in the garden went missing after a few days.  She did not know that the caterpillar had turned into a cocoon so she felt sad. But things changed when she met a friendly rabbit and Mr. Gnome who gave her hope of finding her caterpillar friend again. She followed them to a flower garden where she saw a beautiful butterfly flying about. The butterfly was actually her good friend, Mr. Caterpillar, who had transformed into a butterfly. She was very happy to know that.

All the children paid full attention and enjoyed the puppet show. The puppet show ended up with a beautiful butterfly song, sung by the children.

The most waited-for moment was egg hunting in the garden. The children looked in every corner of the garden for eggs. We are lucky to have a clear, bright and sunny day. All the

children happily gathered the ‘’big eggs’’ which were hard-boiled egg and “small eggs” which were peanuts. The big children helped to peel the ‘’big eggs’’. Then, the eggs were halved them using string to be eaten during lunch. The ‘’small eggs’’ were shared out and wrapped together with the Easter eggs that they had coloured in the morning. We were glad to see them happily showing their little packages to you when you came to pick them up that day.

Now, the children are busy making Mother’s Day wall cards and flowers for their mothers. They will bring the cards and flowers home on 10th May [Friday]. We also would like to wish all mothers ‘Happy Mother’s Day’.

The children are also practising for the coming Harvest Festival. In Nania, we celebrate Harvest Festival with a thankful heart to Mother Nature for sun, rain and wind. Through the poems and songs, the children express their gratefulness for the food on their plates and also to the farmers who work hard to grow the crops as well as to their parents who lovingly prepare food for them.

All parents and siblings are cordially invited to come and join us. We very much look forward to seeing you on that day. Please make yourself free on the morning of the 17th of May. After the Harvest festival, we will slowly transform the display corner to green and yellow with candles and handmade ketupat. The children who have experienced this before know that Hari Raya Puasa is coming. We will start singing Hari Raya songs soon.
