Another year is ending and Christmas is around the corner.  The children are getting into a festive mood. They are practising songs and poems that they enjoy very much. A “Star Window calendar” has been placed at the center of the display table. Each day after lunch, all the children will gather about the display table. One child will open a star window on the calendar and another child will hang the colourful star on the tree or place animals on the display table with caring thoughts. Every child will have a chance to perform this ceremony until all the windows are open and we celebrate Christmas festival together.

The focus of our Christmas Festival is to connect the children with their inner being and to cultivate the goodness that lies within them. Christmas is not just receiving presents, having parties and dressing up. It is also about giving and carrying kind thoughts for one another. A part of their presentation is the prayer. Each child carries a candle and makes a wish for those who are hungry or sick in this world.

The children are creating their Paper Christmas Sock for the Christmas festival. They are weaving colourful yarns and drawing beautiful pictures with Christmas themes

which they will make into their Christmas Sock. They will then place all the beautiful paintings and drawings they have done though out this year into their Paper Christmas Sock. Browsing through their drawings, you can see how your child has developed over the months. They will bring the home Christmas Sock home on the day of the festival.

Children will also make Christmas cookies and wipe all the chairs as part of the festival preparations.

We have spent a wonderful year with the children. We have also learnt a lot through their child-like eyes. There is always hope and new life in each moment of each day. They forgive and forget the past. They do not worry about the future. They enjoy every moment of the present. Children experience laughter and tears, happy and sad moments, fights and caring moments every day. We are very encouraged by their growth and change. We eagerly look forward to seeing them again after the break.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope you will enjoy the holidays with your children.
