We are glad to have the children in the English class returning to class happily and cheerfully. They have lots of things to catch up on with one another and I am glad to see their smiling faces while they are playing with each other. Most of the new children who have just joined us have adapted well to the new environment. One or two of them have taken a longer time to settle down. However, I am glad to report that all of them are able to follow the daily rhythm of the class now.
New children bring on new dynamics in the class. The older children in the class are the role models for the younger ones to imitate. They include the new children in their play and morning artistic activities. By now new groups of ‘best friends’ have been formed.
The big children in the class also look forward to their weaving and formal learning sessions in the afternoons. The younger children enjoying play time but it took the new children some time to learn to clear up after play. However, they are eager to learn so they should be able to put the toys back to the respective places in the afternoon play session very soon.
We know the children are looking forward to Teacher Elina’s return. She has made good recovery and the doctor has confirmed that she should be able to rejoin us on the 2nd of February.
In the meantime, the children are earnestly practising the poems, songs and dances for the coming Chinese New Year Festival. This year we are introducing some new songs for the festival. One of which is a Japanese song for the ‘Setsubun’ celebration. This celebration is similar to that of Chinese New year as both are celebrations of welcoming the spring and chasing away demons/niang. So we have incorporated some songs for both the celebrations and the children will present them to you during the festival.
Thus, I look forward to seeing you and your family on the 13th of February (Friday). Attached herewith is the programme and song sheet for your attention.
All of us at Nania would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family ‘Gong Xi Fa Cai’.
