Our warm greetings and a Happy New Year to all dear Parents!

We welcome all the children back with joy and delight! It was rather dull without them at the end of December when we were here to prepare the kindergarten for the coming year. While we were cleaning, we talked about the children and realised how much we missed them all.  On the days we washed and dyed the decorative and play cloths, we had fine weather. Throughout the subsequent work days, we were also blessed with sunny sky and warm breeze which let us fully sun the toys and dry our washings. This time, minor repair work was carried out on the rabbit hutch including a slight expansion of the parking area.

We had a wonderful start this year. It was nice seeing all the children again and to hear their laughter and cheer after the 2 weeks holiday. Amongst the familiar faces, there are three new faces in the group. They are Charmaine (4), Nathan (5) and Quinn (4). The new children got on well with the existing children and blended in smoothly in their new environment. It was a successful first week. They adapted well to the rhythm and enjoyed themselves playing with the other children. It was a good start for everyone.

This year, we have by far the largest group of Big children (6-year-olds) consisting of 8 children. They are going to be the role models for the younger ones and appear ready to fill the role. They seem to be more serious now as they take on the higher class tasks, such as helping with pouring water for snack time, participating in the daily literacy lessons, learning to weave in the afternoons and being the class “Postman” i.e. getting the mailbox. These and other activity reserved for big children. From our observation, they are fitting into the shoes of “ge ge” and “che che” nicely.

With Chinese New Year just around the corner, the preparation in school is ongoing with the children practising poems, songs and dance for the upcoming Chinese New Year festival on the 20th Jan 2017. Participating in these preparations, the Chinese New Year mood is quickly felt by us. Inside our classroom, our display corner is graced with decorative fire crackers and beautiful Plum Blossoms. Chinese New Year is a time for families to be together. Wherever they are, people come home to celebrate the festival with their families and gather to enjoy the food and time spent together. At Nania, it is also a time for families and friends to mingle. We look forward to meet all of you on this special occasion, the first gathering of the year, to convey our good wishes to all.

We look forward to seeing all of you on the 20th of Jan 2017.

May each and everyone of you find fulfilment and joy, all year long and a Happy Chinese New Year to you and your family!
