Happy new year to you all! We hope you celebrated the start of 2019 in good spirits with family and friends. It’s good to look ahead and think about what this year may bring us.

This year, we welcome 5 new children. Since most of them are 4 year olds and form the youngest group of children in the class, there were some separation anxiety episodes. However, they are adjusting to the longer hours away from their care-givers and also to the class rhythms in Nania.

The returning children who missed the school for 2 weeks are happily sharing their holiday experiences with their friends and teachers. The 5-year-olds enjoy being addressed as ‘ko-ko’ and ‘che-che’ and the five 6-year-olds have eagerly taken on the role as the big children in the class.

We also did some renovation and repairs to the building. As you may noticed we have a new classroom floor.

The big children in the class are busy learning to weave, read and write.  Some of them have been waiting for the past 2 years to experience this and thus we understand their enthusiasm in doing what the previous children did.

In the meantime, the display corner in the class has been transformed by the Chinese New Year decorations and all the children are geared up and earnestly practising the poems, songs and dances for the coming Chinese New Year Festival.  We look forward to seeing you and your family on the 1st of February [Friday].  Attached herewith is the programmed and song sheet for your attention.

The Chinese New Year break is from 4th February till 8th February. There will be another holiday on 13th February which is the ninth day of Chinese New Year and is the “Bai Tian Gong” celebration for the Hokkien New Year.

We wish you all the best for this new year and may we have a wonderful time together.  Gong Xi Fatt Cai!
