July and August 2012

Thank you very much for your attendance and participation during our Lantern Festival celebration.  Most of the children turned up on time thus they were ready during their presentations.I was so happy to see children who were unable to perform in front of large crowds before finally overcome their shyness and participated beautifully that evening.  Hurray to these little children who always try to meet our expectations whenever the occasion warrants them to do so.

The momentum build up till the time for the actual presentation is important.  The day before, the big children were involved in cleaning up the chairs.  On the morning of the festival, all the children made ‘dango’ for us to eat in the evening. They also folded the colourful origami lanterns we hung up as decorations. When they came back in the evening, they were looking their best and excited because they had helped set the atmosphere for our festival celebration.

The other celebration that we had in the month of July was the Tanabata Day where I had to write the children’s wishes to hang on the bamboo branches.  Honestly I feel a little stressed and lost whenever I have to do this task for the past few years because it is not easy to get the little children to tell me what their wishes are.

However, while I was writing their wishes this year, something wonderful happened between the children and me. I was able to capture more of their inner voices showing love and concern to their siblings and parents rather than the usual demands for toys and playthings.

One boy wished his mum needn’t work so hard as he doesn’t want to see his mum feeling so tired. Another suddenly remembered the good times that he had with his auntie and wishes that she can come and visit him again.  A girl remembered the good time that she had with her dad eating ‘durian’ and wishes to do that with her dad again while another one wishes to learn dancing together with her sister. Another child recalled her mummy’s wonderful spaghetti and wishes for her mum to cook it more often and another one wishes that her little brother could grow up sooner so that she can play with him. And the list goes on…….

Their warm and sincere wishes touched me so much that I felt the need to share this experience with all of you. I also felt so privileged to be the one to convey each and every one of their little inner voices and love to all of you.

Another wonderful news to share with you is we have updated our web page. Please inform your friends about our new web page address @ www.nania.com.my.  We hereby wish to seek your kind permission to allow us to post some of your child’s photographs in our web page.  Kindly let us know if you do not wish us to do so.

Once again I need to explain to the children my absence from lunch as I am fasting during the month of Ramadan.  The children have shown their concern and understanding and look forward to the day that I can join them for lunch again.

Lastly, I take this opportunity to wish all of you `Happy Holidays' and do share with us the wonderful times that you have with your children during the holidays.
