マレーシアでは、ランタン祭りは、中秋の名月と兼ねて９月に行われます。ナニアでは、マレーシアのランタン祭りと日本の夏祭りを一緒にしたような形の「ランタン祭り」を７月に行なっています。

　この日、子供たちは、朝、おだんご作りをし、夜、集まって歌ったり踊ったり自分たちで作ったものを食べたりと楽しく過ごします。又ランタンWalkでは、自分たちで作ったランタンに火が灯されます。

　「Mr. Candle」と、子供たちから呼ばれているローソクは、一日の終わりのお話の時間やお誕生会、お別れ会で使われ、子供たちを自然にひきつけています。彼らにとって地上の火は精神界の光と深く関係を持っています。そして、「お日様」「お星様」「お月様」「神様」など、天上のものとも深くかかわっています。うす暗くなった中で灯されるランタンの火と一緒に歌い歩きながら、天上のもの、自然界のものとつながりが持てる経験をして欲しいというのも、このランタン祭りのねらいです。

ランタン祭りのご案内

日時：2024年7月19日（金）6時30分より（夕食後集合）（軽食を用意しています。）時間厳守でお願いします。

発表は６時半からですので、6時15分には必ずご集合ください。

場所：ナニアの庭（雨天：室内）

駐車はナニアの前のChe Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Societyの駐車場を借りていますので、そこにご駐車ください。

※この日はデイケアはありません。園児の皆さまには全員２時半に降園してもらいます。

※開始が６時半になりますので、ご自宅で夕食を済ませてきていただけると幸いです。

6:50 -7:10 年長さん達による福建語の詩（カスタネット）、全員による福建語の詩（鈴）、盆踊り

ランタン祭りの頃、中国系の人たちは月を見ながら、詩を歌って踊って楽しんだそうです。その詩をご紹介します。

盆踊りはお父さん、お母さんやご兄弟のみなさまも是非一緒に踊りましょう。

7:10-7:40 軽食

おだんご、チョコ・バターケーキ、フルーツ、ビーフンなどをご用意いたします。

*  子供たちは座って食前の言葉を言います。人数が多いため、お母様方にそれぞれのお子さんのおやつを取っていただいたらと思います。小さいお子さんがいらっしゃる方は、スタッフがお手伝いいたします。

*お飲み物はナニアでも用意しますが、各ご家庭でもご持参ください。

7:40- 8:00 ランタンWalk

子供たちは、英語、日本語、中国語でランタンの歌の練習をしています。

　みんなで一緒に歌いながら庭を一周して、外回りを歩きます。天候にもよりますが、もし、家の外を歩く時は、お父様、お母様方、お子様と一緒に歩いてください。その時、お子様の安全管理も、どうぞよろしくお願い致します。小学生は園児の横を歩いてください。（もし、お父様が不参加で、園児以外の小さいお子様がいらっしゃる方はお知らせ下さい。

この後、子供たちはそれぞれのランタンをもらって帰宅します。おやすみなさい。

　行事の時は、全体で一緒にする以外に自由に動き回れる時間がたくさんあります。また夜の行事で、薄暗くなると足元が見えにくくなります。危険ですので木登りはなしにしたいと思いますので、よろしくお願い致します。小学生のお兄さん、お姉さん達も各ご家庭でよろしくお願い致します。

　できるだけゆかたか甚平のご着用をお願いできますか。もし、お持ちでない方は、大丈夫です。ナニアにも数枚、いただいた甚平があります。Blueflowerクラスの子供たちの中には、以前伝統的な洋服を着た子もいました。その日、特別のものを着るということで、その行事への参加が意欲的になります。どうぞよろしくお願い致します。

　いただいた甚平の大きさは、全部女の子用なのですが、110のサイズのものが２着と120のものが１着です。ご希望の方はお知らせください

もしお子さんの浴衣か甚平で小さくなってきれなくなったものがありましたら、お貸しいただくことは可能でしょうか？男の子でも女の子でも大丈夫です。

七夕のお祭り

みなさまもご存知の七夕のお祭りをナニアでは4日に行います。年長さんは先生にお願い事を伝えて先生が見本を書き、それを見て自分で書きました。年中年少さんは先生がお願い事を子供達に聞いて書きました。毎年子供達が持ちやすい細い竹をナニアの近くからいただいて、そちらに短冊と飾りをつけていきます。保護者の皆さまにはご参加頂かない行事ではありますが、大きな行事に負けないくらい準備をたくさんする行事です。

4日の降園時に笹の葉と短冊を一緒に持って帰ってもらいます。

Dear Parents,

Time passes really quickly, and now we are approaching July. The children have celebrated many festivals and special days so far, with the most recent one being Father’s Day.

Did you enjoy your child(ren)’s massages? They practiced every day so they could do it perfectly for you. All the teachers are very proud of them!

In July, Nania will have two more celebrations: Tanabata Day on the 4th, followed by our Lantern Festival on the 19th. The children are working hard to prepare the crafts for these celebrations.

For Tanabata Day, which is just around the corner, the children shared their wishes with the teachers. We then wrote them down on special papers they coloured, so they can hang them on bamboo branches called Tanzaku. On that day, they will bring the bamboo branches home along with their wishes.

The Lantern Festival is one of Nania’s major celebrations, and all parents are invited to join us. The children have begun making their own lanterns using their paintings. They drew suns, moons and stars on the paper before cutting out the shapes and covering the open spaces with colourful crepe paper. Next, they will  weave colourful yarn through a twisting process known as ‘guru-guru’ to create the handles for their lanterns.

Tanabata Day (Thursday, 4th July 2024)

During this time of the year, according to Chinese and Japanese folktales, the Weaver Princess and the Cow Herder meet across the Milky Way to profess their love for each other.  The children will make Tanzaku with their wishes for this celebration.  Tanzaku, along with other decorations placed in the house, symbolize the invitation of better things to come. The teachers will cut bamboo branches on the evening of the 3rd in preparation for Tanabata on the 4th.

Lantern Festival (Friday, 19th July 2024)

The Lantern Festival (or Summer Festival) is one of the major festivals we celebrate with all the parents at Nania. It combines elements from the Chinese Mooncake Festival and the Japanese Summer Bon Festival.

Bon is one of Japan’s summer festivals, where people make offerings of food and other items to their ancestors, praying for the happiness of their ancestors’ souls in the next world.  It typically takes place from the 13th to the 15th of August (depending on the region), and during this time, the traditional folk dance known as Bon Odori can be observed in cities, towns and villages all over Japan.

The Mooncake Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is the third major festival in the Chinese calendar and is celebrated on the 15th day of the Eighth Lunar Month. This festival is known as the Mooncake Festival because of a sweet cake prepared in the shape of the moon, typically filled with sesame seeds, ground lotus seeds and duck egg yolks. Traditionally, the festival centers around moon watching, with both children and adults strolling through their neighbourhood carrying colourful lanterns.

This year, we will celebrate the festival on 19th July (Friday)in the evening in our garden, weather permitting.

On the day itself, the children will make dango (rice dumplings) in the morning to be served as snacks during the evening festival. After dinner, all the children and their families are expected to arrive at Nania before 6.15pm. We will start the evening with some songs and dances before enjoying some light snacks. Later, the children will participate in a lantern walk with their handmade lanterns.

At Nania, we use candles for story times, birthdays and farewells. Candles, symbolizing earthly lights, are used to represent the heavenly lights in our cultural activities. As the children gaze at Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon and Mr. Star, they are filled with wonder and awe. The light of Mr. Candle graces their activities, bringing a sense of solemnity and dignity to them. The lantern walk during the Lantern Festival offers a moment of communion in the children’s hearts, bridging the lights on earth and the lights in the heavens.

Notes regarding the Lantern Festival

· School will begin at the usual time of 9am and finish at 2.30pmon 19th July (Friday). There will be no Day Care on this day. Children are expected to return with their parents and siblings by 6.15 pm. Please have dinner before arriving at Nania. The presentation will commence promptly at 6.30pm, so we encourage everyone to be on time.

· You can park your car at the rented parking lots at Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society, located just opposite of Nania’s Main Gate.

· There will be many attendees at the Lantern Festival. Please ensure the safety of your child(ren). Parents are kindly requested to keep a close eye on their children, especially when they are walking on the road.

· If the weather permits, we plan to have a lantern walk outside Nania (along the road circling the kindergarten). Please avoid blocking the children’s path to take photographs.

· Some Japanese children will wear their traditional costumes (Yukata) for the evening. We also encouraged other children to come dressed in their traditional clothes as well.

· Climbing trees, especially the ciku tree, is strictly not allowed due to the safety risks involved.
