Dear Parents,
I am sure that your child would have told you about teacher Kerry’s new born baby. Yes, Teacher Kerry has safely given birth to a healthy and active baby boy. We congratulate her on having her first bundle of joy! We miss her as she is on maternity leave for 2 months. Nevertheless she will be back in action by the end of May.
Speaking of babies, over the recent holidays our resident rabbit gave birth to another litter of babies. The baby rabbits have yet to grow their fur and are still dependent on their mother for food and warmth.
These births coincide so well with Spring time as Earth passes the annual Spring Squinox on 20th Mar this year.
At Nania, we celebrate this time of Earth’s renewal and emergence of new life following winter with a New Life Festival with the children.
We have begun practicing songs for our New Life Festival. This year, our New Life festival will be held on the 12th of April. You may hear them singing New Life songs at home so feel free to sing along with them!
During our New Life celebration, the children will colour eggs in the morning and then watch a puppet show performed by the teachers. The main story line is the transformation of a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly to reflect our celebration of renewal and new life.
In the story, a young girl befriends a caterpillar. But alas one day, she is unable to find the caterpillar. On seeing her plight, a friendly rabbit takes her to a beautiful garden where she sees a beautiful butterfly flying about. The rabbit tells her that her caterpillar friend is now transformed into that colourful butterfly. At the end of the puppet show, the children will recite a poem which is in the song sheet enclosed with this newsletter.
After that, we have the much-anticipated egg hunting event. Children will hunt for the big and small eggs (peanuts) in the garden. The eggs are hidden by the kitchen staff during the puppet show. The eggs the children find will be given to the kitchen staff to be served for lunch.
At the end of the day, they will bring home the eggs that they coloured earlier in the morning. Please ask them about the day’s activities when they reach home.
On another note, our new teacher, Teacher Iren is settling down and is thoroughly enjoying being with the children and guiding them creatively.
I wish everyone well and will share more news in our next newsletter.
