Last Thursday, the children really enjoyed our Bento Day by fully participating in it. In the morning, the big children helped to shell the eggs. Later, they also helped to pack the Bento Boxes. Before lunch, all the children brought the ”wallet” and “money” they had made to buy food at the Kitchen Staff’s Bento Shop. We then had our lunch in the classroom. Many children asked for “okawari” (it means another serving in Japanese). In the afternoon, the 5-year-old children helped to dry the food containers so that we can keep them for our future use.

The cucumber that we planted has grown well in the garden.  During outside playtime, children noticed that the cucumbers were ready for harvest. So, we harvested them, gave them to Auntie Janet and asked her to serve them to us. Enjoying our garden-grown cucumbers was a wonderful experience. A boy who doesn’t like to eat vegetables decided to eat the cucumber when he realised it was from our garden. If you have a garden at home, you could plant some vegetables with your children too. At Nania we serve organic vegetables as much as we can. We also take orders from parents for organic vegetables.  You may make your order every Thursday and get the available vegetables on Monday morning.

School holidays is just around the corner. I am going to join a hiking adventure in Lenggong, Perak. Going back to nature always give me a chance to refresh myself. I hope you will spend a wonderful time with your children during the holidays. It will be great if they can spend some time with you in nature. I shall encourage them to help you with some household chores like washing their plates after a meal, folding their clothes and cleaning their toys. Please encourage them when they try to help out. See you again after the holidays.
