I am sure everyone had a wonderful Sunday morning at the Japanese School Hall during our Sports/Family Day. The English class recorded full attendance this time. I was glad to see fathers and mothers making the effort to play games and have fun with their young ones. The siblings who turned up showed participated enthusiastically in all our events. I wish to thank you all for your whole-hearted support. To the committee members, many thanks for your time and helping hands.
Don’t you think the children staged their presentations beautifully in front of the big crowd? The big children from both classes also performed the ‘kumitaiso movements’ with great panache. Now the 5 years old in the classes are looking forward to their turn next year.
For the few children who were too overwhelmed by the crowd, I will continually encourage them in class and I’m sure they will do better next time.
Summary of Nania Parents’ Evening held on the 27th of April 2012.
I would like to thank parents who were able to turn up that evening. For the information of those who could not make it, we shared about the importance of daily rhythms that the children have in Nania.
The repetitive and familiar rhythms help the children fit easily into the daily activities here at Nania. They don’t feel ‘lost’ because they know what to do daily. At the end of the day they are tired but happy because they have a sense of achievement. That’s why they always look forward to the activities of the next day. The company of their friends in class is the icing on the cake. They care for each other and never forget to mention and pray for the friends who are absent each day.
We shared the joy of seeing the children enjoying Nania’s well planned organic food. Some children who would not eat vegetables in the beginning have grown to love them. Some children who are going away on holidays mentioned that they will miss certain types of food served her e.g. the Japanese curry rice. One child who is going to leave Nania soon declared that he will come back to eat in Nania if we let him know the day that we are serving the curry.
We also shared that children who listen to a lot of stories have an enriched life as they carry a passion for story telling into their primary years. We have had feedback where these children willingly participated in their school storytelling competitions because they are confident they can tell stories that they have heard before.
Some parents shared their views on parenting and all in all I hope that it was a fruitful night of sharing for everyone. I wish to see more parents turning up next time.
Very soon the children will be on a week long term break. I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday.
