Thank you to all of you who attended our Sports cum Family day.  I was thankful that it was not raining that morning. I hope all of you enjoyed your time with us as well as with your child/children.

We appreciate your active participation with your children in the games.  Because of your enthusiasm, the games and activities were more fun and lively on that day. The siblings present on that day also supported us by participating earnestly in all the events.

I am glad that the big children of Nania overcame their shyness and showed their confidence while doing the “Kumi Taiso” movements. Every year they have watched their predecessor ‘ko-ko’ and ‘che-che’ present these movements.  Hence, they mastered the movements and were excited to show their parents their skill on Sports Day.

The children ran and played all the games tirelessly. The hall was filled with their laughter and their faces shone were like the sun. The children must have felt proud to receive origami medals from the committee of mothers and teachers.

I wish to thank those who have lent a helping hand.  Many thanks also go out to the committee members for all your assistance and support.

Last month, we celebrated Mother’s Day and this month we will celebrate Father’s Day. Our mother and father are our first “teachers” in our lifetime. They play an important role in shaping who we are today. We recall the habits, values and beliefs our parents taught us as they cared for us during their lifetime.

At the same time, we also must be conscious of how we are playing our roles as parents or teachers. Our young children learn through imitation and also strongly connect with our inner mood. They not only see what we are doing but they also sense how we are feeling inwardly. How can we raise up a happy and healthy child if we ourselves are not happy adults who are passionate about life? What happens if we show no interest about other people or we always worry and are sad?

During the night, when I review my day, I often ask myself,” Am I playing a good role model today to my students and my son?” “How can I improve myself after each mistake?” This exercise helps me to improve day by day. No one is perfect, but our striving to be a better person can inspire our children.

I wish all the fathers happiness and health. Happy Fathers’ Day!

We will break for a week and I wish you a wonderful holiday with your child/children.
