Dear parents,
Last month, the three big children were busy preparing for their graduation. They converted their weaving into colourful bags. They also made colourful music instruments and star crowns. Unfortunately, we had to postpone the Graduation ceremony as Teacher Thian could not come to school because her son was tested positive. Luckily, this group of graduates will start their new school in March 2023, so the English Class Graduation Ceremony will be held in February 2023. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your kind understanding and cooperation for the sudden change.
Now, the children are practicing poems, songs and prayer for Christmas festival. Have you heard them singing some of the songs at home?
At Nania, we work on the theme of ‘sharing and giving’ with the children for the Christmas Festival. The focus of this festival is to connect the children with their inner beings and cultivate the goodness that lies within them. Christmas is not just about receiving presents, having parties and dressing up. It is also about giving, nurturing kind thoughts and showing love to others. By encouraging them to carry a kind thought for others, we hope to help the children rekindle their inner lights and experience the warmth and joy of sharing and giving.
When Teacher Thian asked the children, “Who do you want Mr. Santa Claus to give some help?” “Your son! We hope he will get well soon,” answered some children. It was so touching to hear that. We also discussed that there were some victims affected by the flood recently and they wish them safe and stay healthy.
During the festival ceremony, we want to prolong the particular beautiful moment when the children have lighted all the candles by singing the “Song of Prayer”. Only after they have sung the song will we put out the candles.
In the classroom, the children have also started to weave, draw and decorate their paper ‘Christmas Sock’. You will take this sock home filled with their beautiful drawings and paintings on the day of the festival. They also will colour the Christmas Star to decorate our “Christmas Tree” and bring it home on the day of the festival.
This year, we decided to celebrate the Christmas Festival for 4 days to minimize the contact. Children will bake the cookies, watch the puppet show and make Christmas Wish in Nania. We will send photos and videos of those activities to parents. Both classes will do their presentation on different days. The English Class parents are invited to join us on the 15th (Thursday). The class will continue as usual until 2.30pm and day care service is provided on the day. However, if you want your child/children to go home after the presentation at 10.05am, please inform the class teacher.
