At beginning of the month, some children suffered from vomiting and diarrhea. To ensure the health of the children, we sterilized and cleaned the classroom and toilets. Things which cannot be thoroughly cleaned, were disposed and replaced eg. pillows and mattress. At Nania, hygiene is importance and emphasized all the time. We remind children to wash their hands with soap before and after meals. Also after using the toilet and after playing in the garden. We use separate napkins and hand towels for meals and wash them every day.
We understand the concern parents have over hygiene and health issues. We request cooperation from parents to keep the child at home when they are not well or infected with a contagious illness. We want parents to keep us informed so that appropriate action can be taken.
Lately, the air quality has been bad due to the haze. We did not let children out during outside playtime on hazy days and constantly remind them to drink plenty of water. As a precaution, we encourage children to wear face mask on hazy days when they arrive to Nania. The mask is kept in the children’s individual plastic bag to maintain hygiene.
October is a busy month for Zen Jia and Edelynn. They are preparing for their graduation. They are finishing their graduation year project that is weaving and making their own musical instruments. They are practicing to perform a “concert” for their graduation. It is so touching to see how passionate they are working on their project and getting ready to continue their journey in life. We wish them all the best.
To the parents of these graduating children, please mark your calendar and join us on that important day. You are requested to prepare and share with us a simple and touching story about your child on that day.
Deepavali is just around the corner. Our display corner is now beautifully decorated with gold embroidered saris, colourful bracelets, coloured wax lamps and a Rangoli [coloured rice motif]. We will relate a Deepavali story to the children and sing
Deepavali songs together for our Deepavali celebration. For the morning snack, we will have Indian cookies made by our cook, Aunty Anny and “muruku” made by the After School Care [primary school] children under the guidance of Aunty Anny. We encourage children to wear Indian traditional costumes, if you have any, to intensify the mood of the celebration.
We are now planning next year’s enrollment. Please inform us before the 15th November if your child would like to stay or leave Nania next year.
