We were glad to meet all the children and their family members who attended our Lantern Festival. The children looked energetic and cheerful. We would like to thank parents who voluntarily helped to keep the chairs and take care of traffic.

Whenever a festival approaches, we expect one or two children may not participate much during the presentations because they are not ready to perform in front of a big crowd yet. However, after each festival, we find those children who were too overwhelmed by the crowd singing and reciting poems while doing their drawing or other artistic activities in the morning.

As always, we encourage those children by saying that it would be wonderful if they could sing songs and recite poem confidently like that during festivals in future.

Now, one of our daily activities is practicing the songs and poems for our coming Graduation. During drawing days, they have drawn diligently because they want to give their best drawings to their graduating ‘’ko-ko’’ and ‘’che-che’’.

In the afternoon, after their literacy learning, the big children practice their upcoming graduation performance as well as put the finishing touches to their musical instruments with colourful crepe papers. They remembered what the previous graduates did with these instruments and thus they as eager to complete them.

Deepavali is just around the corner. We will transform the display corner with beautiful gold embroidered sarees, colourful bracelets, coloured wax lamps and a Rangoli [coloured rice motif].

We will relate a Deepavali story to the children and sing Deepavali songs together for our Deepavali celebration. For the morning snack, we will have Indian cookies made by our cook, Aunty Anny and “muruku” made by the After School Care [primary school] children under the guidance of Aunty Anny. We encourage children to wear Indian traditional costumes, if you have any, to intensify the mood of the celebration.
